Wasteland Wars Approach!

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

March 29, 2008
10:00 amto7:00 pm

With war behind us we are left with a hollow lonely feeling in our hearts, not to mention some knots and bruises in our muscles. Come join us in Windale at the end of March, we can’t help with the knots and bruises, but we can help lift your spirits with some great spoofs on some well known games. We will have a hobby horse joust, a scavenger hunt, cattle raid and we will be tossing some farm yard animal. There will also be a silent auction with wares donated by some of our very talented local artisans. With the coming of spring also comes time to tend the crops, so you can expect that our hardsuit tourney will once again involve farming utensils. Our event has something for everyone and promises laughs or at least giggles for all. This wondrously fun event will be held in Metcalf Park, which has beautiful mature trees to block that occasional breeze that we get. There is also a fenced in play ground to help keep those smalls corralled. There will be a light luncheon that is included in the site fee. There is crash space available for those wishing to stay the night. So please come and join us for some completely not serious good times.
Site Fee: 5.00 for Ault members with proof of membership, 8.00 for Adult non-members, 3.00 for youth (ages 5-17) under 5 are free.
Site opens: at 10:00 A.M. and closes at 7:00 P.M.
Directions: Best route to Kingman, exit Beale Street, turn toward old downtown area. The site is at the corner of Beale and Grandview. Parking is behind the park, next to the school, there will be signs.

Mixed Weapons War

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

March 14, 2008toMarch 16, 2008

Greetings to all,

SunDragon’s spotlight event, Mixed Weapons War will be on March 14th through 16th, 2008. We would like you all to know that this year you can go to the ACCEPS web site and preregister and prepay your site fees and feast fees at:
http://acceps.ansteorra.org/index.php

Due to the popularity of this event we strongly encourage that you take advantage of the advance payment system through ACCEPS. There is a $1 per transaction fee and you will need a debit or credit card to make your reservation. THE DEADLINE FOR ACCEPS REGISTRATION IS MARCH 10TH! After that date you can only pay by cash or check made out to: Barony of SunDragon, SCA Inc. at the event.

As always this will be a busy event with lots of fighting. Their Excellencies Baron Ryan and Baroness Katheline will be holding their final court on Friday evening. Lord Robert and Lady Theresa will be invested as the next Baron and Baroness of SunDragon on Saturday
morning. We have added Equestrian activities this year, so there will be equestrian tourneys on Saturday. Remember the site is an Equestrian Resort! So a lot of the site is open for your riding pleasure. There will be armored combat activities, rapier activities, youth combat activities and plenty of archery. Saturday
evening is Robert and Theresa’s Investiture Feast, put on by Lady Jacquelin de Normandie; the feast is by reservation only only so remember to get your reservation early because seating is limited.
The annual Jugger Tourney will be conducted on Saturday evening. If you unfamiliar with our Jugger Tourney, it is a team activity that is a mix of armored combat and modern day football. On Sunday
morning we rise to the Kon Hawke Memorial Helm Auction and Tournament. Proceeds go to support local nonprofit theater groups.

If nothing else just come out and enjoy this wonderful site. Empty Acres is a privately owned site with more than enough room for our activities. If you’ve never been here then you need to come and see it. We will be using the 17 acre grass field (yes, grass) that we used last October for our Baronial Champion and Chatelaine tourney weekend.

As I’ve talked to many of the populace over the past few weeks, everyone it seems is making something new or improving something old to get ready for war. The craftmanship, creativity, and ingenuity of our populace is astounding! Please take some time when you get a chance and consider writing a brief how-to or story about a project you’ve worked on this year to share with the rest of us on our website. We hope to build this site as a destination for learning as well as general info! Its your site so help build it! I am ready and willing to help with putting it together with you if you need help, so contact me via web@baronyoferedsul.org
