Barony of Ered Sul (Flagstaff)

Is it Too Darn Hot for you? Come up to the cool pines of Ered Sul. We invite one and all to revel and celebrate our birthday with competitions for Baronial Champion, Archery Champion, Rapier Champion, and of course the famous Ultraviolet Spacedragon Bardic Competition. Just imagine sitting back against the majestic background of the Peaks amongst pines and aspens as you watch the legendary competitions. Don’t forget to have your children bring their Page Program binders for there will be plenty of opportunity for them to earn credits.

 

Site Opens 8:00 am Saturday, July 26

Site Closes 5:00 pm Sunday, July 27

 

Site is wet, camping allowed with above ground fire pits depending on fire restrictions. Bring your own drinking water as none is available on site. Kingdom minor curfew is in effect.

Adult with proof of SCA membership- $15.00,

Adult without proof of SCA membership- $18.00

Youth  8-17 $7.00

Under 8 Free.

 

Directions: Take highway 1-80  North past Snowbowl, just after Bater Road the first left is Forest Road 222, follow West until you come to the site. There will be signs.

2nd Annual Ered Sulabration

Baron Christopher and Baroness Miana would like to invite you to the 2nd annual Ered Sulabration! To be held on May 10th in the forested lands of Flagstaff at Bushmaster Park.  Join Their Excellencies and populace of Ered Sul in the refreshing mountains away from the searing heat of the valley to spend a day in games and activities for the whole family.

There will be hard suit and rapier competitions.  A warrior auction will precede the combat so bring your coin purses and bid on your favorite champion.  Prizes will be awarded to the sponsor whose warrior bests the day.  Proceeds from the auction will go to support the “Higher Word,” Ered Sul’s Baronial newsletter.  There will be dancing around the maypole to bring the world back to right again along with games and activities for all ages.  What would an Ered Sulabration be without a bardic competition?  Dust off your old favorites or bring something new and be a part of the open Bardic challenge!

So come join us in the cool mountains and enjoy a day of fun, frivolity, fighting, laughter and friendship.

Site Fees:  Adults with proof of SCA membership $5.00
Adults without proof of SCA membership $5.00 + $3.00
Youth and Children 17 years and under Free

Site will open at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m.
Pets permitted on leashes only, owner responsible for any cleanup. Smoking is allowed.  No camp fires.  The site is discreetly damp, no glass containers.  There is shade.  Please bring any water with you – there isn’t any water on site.  No overnight camping.

Directions:  From all points, made your best route to Flagstaff.  When you reach Flagstaff, turn off I-40 onto Purple Heart Trail (US 89).  Turn right on East Lockett Road, turn left on North Alta Vista Drive, arrive at Bushmaster Park, 3150 North Alta Vista Drive, Flagstaff.

Aurora’s Feast and Baronial Investiture

Hear ye, hear ye! May this announcement cause all ears to ring in the most pleasant of ways! We of Sankt Vladimir College in the cold northernmost regions of the Kingdom of Atenveldt, standing alongside the Barony of Ered Sul, would like to invite all who can come to join us on March 8th, 2008 to attend Aurora’s Feast! Join us as we celebrate the life of Lady Aurora de la Croix and Thegn Antonio Biagi as well as witness the final court of Their Excellencies Gunnar and Saeunn, protectors of all things wooly, and the Investiture of Lord Christopher FitzArthur and Lady Miana ní Chonnagáin as the next Baron and Baroness of Ered Sul!

Aurora’s Feast/Ered Sul Baronial Investiture will be held at Flagstaff High School. The site will open at 12 noon and close at 8pm. Among the activities scheduled for the day are:

  • A Silent Auction will be held throughout the day, half of the proceeds will go to Sankt Vladimir to offset the costs of the event and half will go to the Kingdom of Atenveldt General fund. To that effort, if anyone has any items they wish to donate, please contact the coordinator, THL Jerusha a’Laon. She’ll be happy to pick up items.
  • A wind-chime tourney will also take place. It will be a round robin tournament with the participants having been armed with pillows and blindfolded. There will a prize for both an adult and youth winner donated by THL Jerusha.
  • If there is interest, Mistress Jehanne will lead the populace in English Country Dancing.
  • There will be a Feast served with lots of yummy food please look to the lists for a specific menu. The Feast steward is Uilleam O’Cleirigh. If you have any questions, please contact him.
  • Court will be at Their Majesties discretion.

This year, feast will be included with the site fee:

Adults with proof of SCA membership: $7.00

Adults without proof of SCA membership: $10.00

Youth 6 to 17 years of age: $5.00

Children 5 and under are free

NO ALCOHOL allowed at this event. Smoking permitted across the street from the school property. No animals allowed except assistance animals. Policies will be strictly enforced.

From Tucson: Go to Phoenix via I-10 West. Take the I-17 North exit in Phoenix.
From Phoenix: Go to Flagstaff via I-17 North.

Once in Flagstaff: I-17 will turn into Milton Road. Continue on Milton Road. Milton Road will veer left (going through an underpass) and become Route 66. Take the first left immediately after the underpass (Santa Fe Street). Then take an immediate right at Sitgreaves Street. Continue on Sitgreaves until it dead ends at Elm Street. You’ll be right in front of the High School. Look for signs directing to parking.

Sewing Day with St. Vladimir Group at NAU

General Sewing Day! Come hang out and help(or be helped) to make garb with the NAU students. If you have your own sewing machine please bring it. Fabric and notions will not be provided, you must bring those as well.

Directions: Take Milton Rd. to Riordan Rd. and go East towards the college. Turn right at the first stop sign which is Knoles Rd. Tinsley will be the first building on the left, it is Building #44. Parking can be found either along the building or in the parking structure across the street. Everyone will be in the large classroom at the north end of the building.

Their Excellencies Last Populace!

The last Populace meeting of the reign of the their Excellencies Baron Gunnar and Baroness Saeunne will be on January 17th 2008 @ 6:30pm, at the the Flagstaff Thorpe Park Adult Center. Please join them to celebrate with a potluck feast. Please bring a dish to share. Finger foods are best so we don’t have a big clean-up, but We will not turn away anything. Populace will start at 6:30 to give Us more time to talk with everyone and mingle.
